Haiku: Sweet Scent Take3
Cuddling

Awakened
into sweet dreams
She
dozed on his scent
This happened to be a 5-7-5 syllable Haiku. I am still learning various forms and enjoying it. The best thing i like about haiku is, you tend to say so much in so less words :)

It is so great to explore how many different contexts the same pair of words can be used.

FRIDAY FICTIONEERS PHOTO PROMPT

“
Behind that glass-pane
we will find a ten-pound note kids”. The two girls leaned forward.
“Grandpa, it’s old and
barbed! You sure?”
“Yes, Dolly! My
prediction has always been right. It will be an adventure. Come!”
.
.
.
Grandpa wondered, “Yet again
I was right. First five times, just to amuse kids, I placed things and acted.
But last ten times, it’s there by magic. It can’t be coincidence.” He felt a
mix of excitement and fear.
.
.
.
.
“Why do you support his
whims Dolly?! I saw you placing the note.”
“Does he exercise if
not for this gimmick Ann? Lets utilize it”.
This story is a part of the Friday Fictioneers Photo Prompt Flash fiction challenge. Every Friday, a photo prompt is provided by the organizer Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. The participants have to come up with a 100 word story. You can check out the other entries here.

“Whole media is filled
with health ahead campaigns. It’s scary. Give me some good news secretary.”
“Don’t worry Mr.
President. Actions are being taken. We are lobbying with their health ministry
to include cheese, desserts and ‘lethargents’ in the diet budget. Defense
ministry has promised to surrender to cold and fever at least once a month.
Ministry of finance committed immense work pressure and work life imbalance.
External affairs ensured enough social commitments. Overall our analysts
predict we wont loose our home for at least a year.”
“Phewww…” said the
spider, “Then I am safe for elections next quarter. ”

THE SNOWY FLOWER
WHAT PEGMAN SAW: FICTION PROMPT
This week, we had the liberty to choose any location/photo of St Petersburg, Russia. I was randomly dropping my pegman on the map. On the second try, i knew i would write on this location, i fell in love with it. So here we go....
WORD COUNT: 150
Donning Sarah’s
over fitting long boots, a new snow-white jacket, little Nidhi sprang and
spiraled through the expanse of snow. Just like a dream the roads were suddenly
full of snow when she woke up in the morning. When she took her first step in
snow, her legs were jammed in snow and she fell face down. She even skid some
distance unable to balance herself. But now she had mastered the skill.
“Appa, look! I
will make a big flower now..…. The biggest ever made on snow”, she exclaimed.
Her face beamed like the snow. At one point she almost camouflaged and
disappeared.
He was glad Nidhi
didn’t have to wait that long……
This story is a part of the What pegman saw, a weekly fiction challenge. We need to write a story–150 words or less–based upon our own street view tour, using the location link provided. You can check out the other entries here.

“Heeeeeeyyyyyaaaaaaa…………..”
“Really? 40°C at
this time of year! Unbelievable!” said Ian.
“In Chennai we have two seasons-hot and
hotter”, Srinivas chuckled.
“And it’s her
first time in snow?”
“It’s my first in
30 years!!”, exclaimed Srinivas.
PS: I felt snow for the first time when i was in 4th i think. And it was the first time for my parents as well. And in total i have been in snow only twice. In some way, I can relate to Nidhi when i think of it :)

WORD COUNT: 100
This has been our home for ages. Its time to show our
gratitude!” said the leader ant, “We have only 7 hours.”
The architects made the
contour. The queen herself was inspecting this marvel. Once the surveyor on the
loft gave green signal, the diggers started. The excavation went on for hours;
they were to leave no clues.
“She is up. Evacuate!” There was a hullabaloo. “Everyone!
Below the monument! Now!”
Everyone waited with baited breath. Lazily she arrived,
yawning. “Peterrrr!!! Again you left it outsi…….Wow!”
Her expressions changed.
“He remembers the day!”, she blushed.
Her smile made their day.

PHOTO SAVES THE DAY
PHOTO PROMPT © Danny Bowman |
WORD COUNT 100
“This will inspire Jim
to continue the pursuit in tough times”, his dad thought as he pinned the photo
on his wall.
It was time for school and little Jim had no vacation story after
the spring break. Peer pressure boosted his creativity.
By lunchtime, he was a
celebrity. “What happened then, Jim?”
“ You wont imagine! That U.F.O scarred
the earth with its light beam. See…. We escaped by hiding behind that bush. I
yelled, “Dad take photo..” But by the time he could click it, it disappeared
behind that hill.”
